What Are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers, also called dermal fillers, are smooth gels placed under the skin to add volume, lift and definition. The fillers we use most are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar your body already makes to keep skin hydrated and plump. As we age, natural HA, collagen and fat all decline, so cheeks flatten, lips thin and folds deepen. A filler replaces some of that lost support.
Fillers are different from wrinkle relaxers. Botox, Dysport and Jeuveau calm the muscles that cause expression lines. Fillers fill and lift. Many people benefit from both, which is why your injector will look at your whole face before suggesting a plan.

How a Filler Appointment Works
From first conversation to settled result.

Consultation
We look at your face at rest and in motion and agree on goals and product.

Comfort
A numbing cream may be used. Most gels also contain lidocaine.
- Step 3
Treatment
Small amounts are placed with a fine needle or cannula, checking symmetry as we go.

Swelling eases and the gel integrates. A follow-up can fine-tune if needed.

Aftercare and Safety
Most people return to normal plans the same day.
After your visit
- Expect mild swelling, especially in lips, for 2 to 3 days
- Avoid hard exercise, heat and alcohol for 24 hours
- Do not press or massage unless your injector advises it
- Sleep on your back the first night if you can
Wait or discuss first if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis
- Are allergic to lidocaine
- Have an active cold sore, rash or infection in the area

What are facial fillers made of?
The fillers we use most are hyaluronic acid gels from the Juvéderm and Restylane families. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar your skin already makes to hold moisture and volume.
How long do fillers last?
It depends on the product and area. Lip results often last 6 to 12 months, while cheek and chin fillers can last 12 to 24 months.
Do fillers hurt?
Most people feel only pressure and a few pinches. Numbing cream and the lidocaine inside most gels keep treatment comfortable.
Will I look overfilled?
Not with a careful plan. Our injectors build gradually and favor balance over volume. You can always add more later.
Can fillers be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you ever want to change or remove them.
What is the difference between Juvederm and Restylane?
Both are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers with gels for different areas. They differ in texture and flexibility, and your injector will pick the best gel for your goal.
Can I get fillers and Botox on the same day?
Often, yes. Many plans combine a wrinkle relaxer for expression lines with filler for volume. Your injector will advise on timing.
